TASB’s Teacher/School Personnel Survey Highlights
The Texas Association of School Boards’ annual survey of school personnel pay reflects that the overall median starting salary for a new teacher in Texas for the current (2022-23) school year is $46,550, a 1.6 percent increase than the survey reported for last school year.
The median teacher average salary in responding districts is $54,645 for 2022‐23, up 2.1 percent from 2021‐22.
In addition, the median pay increase for other school personnel groups — administrative/professional, clerical/paraprofessional and auxiliary personnel — was 3 percent, according to the survey.
The survey data also includes info about hiring schedules, degree stipends, shortage stipends and substitute pay rates.
TASB sent the questionnaire to 1,019 Texas ISDs, which resulted in 556 disticts (55 percent) responding.
