Five Charter Applicants Make Commissioner’s Final List

• Note: This is an update of an earlier version of this article after we received clarification from TEA that a sixth applicant, whose status was unclear, was not approved.

The education commissioner is proposing that the State Board of Education (SBOE) “approve” (by not vetoing) five applicants to open new charter districts.
