TASB 2023-24 Teacher Salary Survey Highlights

A total of 543 (53 percent) of 1,019 ISDs that are Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) members collectively reported (in TASB’s annual survey) for the current (2023-24) school year:

Beginning teachers: $47,388 is the median new teacher starting salary, an increase of 1.8 percent from last school year’s survey and 40.8 percent higher than the state minimum starting new teacher salary of $33,660.

All teachers: $55,600 is the median teacher average salary, up 1.7 percent from last school year.

The survey data also includes info about School Year 2023-24 teacher shortage area pay supplements, teacher pay by years of experience and substitute teacher pay.

TASB says the data is considered to be effective as of December 2023.
