The TEA has issued a request for proposals (RFP 701-24-013) in a quest to contract with at least one experienced parliamentarian to assist the State Board of Education (SBOE) chair in conducting open meetings and/or hearings in accordance with standard rules of order.

  • Note: The SBOE, for over a decade, has utilized the contractual services of a parliamentarian (initially Kirk Overbey and currently Kay Crews).

Applicants must have at least five years of experience providing parliamentary services to a state or governmental agency or board, have knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order — and meet other designated criteria.

The two-year contractual period starts Aug. 31, 2024 — in time for the September 2024 SBOE meeting — with a two-year renewal option possible. The SBOE typically meets over multiple days five times a year.

Deadline: May 13.
