New Grant Program Seeks to Boost Number of Qualified Workers in High-Demand Texas Jobs

Junior colleges, technical colleges and nonprofit organizations may now apply for the Texas Workforce Commission’s new Lone Star Workforce of the Future Fund grants program.
The program is designed to increase the number of qualified workers in high-demand jobs.
Approved grants will provide up to $7,500 per trainee, with a maximum award of $250,000. Among other qualifications, applicants must demonstrate previous successful, verified training program outcomes.
The program was authorized in 2023 legislation, and $5 million was appropriated for the program for the current biennium.
Grants will be awarded until funding is depleted.
