The TEA issued an advisory today to announce that the 2024 update to the Dyslexia Handbook, Procedures Concerning Dyslexia and Related Disorders (a/k/a The Dyslexia Handbook) will become effective on Sunday (June 30).

That is also when revised rules relating to dyslexia will become effective.

The updated handbook (and the revised rules) were adopted in April by the State Board of Education (SBOE) to align with requirements contained in 2023’s HB3928/regular session (TEA summary). The effective date was governed by Texas Register posting requirements.

The TEA advisory says that it is “critical” that school districts be aware of the revised dyslexia requirements.

The updated handbook (English and Spanish versions) — and additional guidance — is posted on the TEA’s Dyslexia and Related Disorders webpage.
