The following major awards were announced or recognized during the just concluded txEDCON24 (a/k/a the Texas Association of School Boards/Texas Association of School Administrators [TASB/TASA] convention) in San Antonio.

Bellville ISD Superintendent Nicole Poenitzsch is TASB’s 2024 Superintendent of the Year.

Bellville ISD Superintendent Nicole Poenitzsch was named 2024 Superintendent of the Year by TASB.

The finalist superintendents for the award were: 1) Gonzalo Salazar (Los Fresnos), 2) Brad Owen (Burkburnett), 3) Kimberley Cantu (Mansfield) and 4) Darryl Henson (Marlin).

The Donna ISD school board was named the 2024 Outstanding School Board by TASA.

The finalists for the award were the: 1) Burkburnett, 2) Corpus Christi, 3) Grand Prairie and 4) Klein school boards.
