Texas 4th-through-12th graders are invited to participate in Letters About Literature, an annual writing competition administered by the Texas Center for the Book.

Students will read a book or poem and write a letter to an author — living or dead — explaining how his or her work changed their view of themselves or the world.

Cash prizes of $300, $200 and $100 will be awarded respectively to the first, second and third place winners in each of the three grade-based categories. Winners will also receive a travel stipend to attend the Texas Library Association 2025 Annual Conference in Dallas in April, where they will be recognized and receive their awards.

Deadline: Feb. 3.
