Texas Supreme Court: Fort Bend ISD Must Release “Phone Logs” of ISD Communications on Devices Owned by 10 Employees and Trustees

Without comment, the Texas Supreme Court (TSC) on Friday (Jan. 31) let stand an appeals court ruling that the phone logs of communications pertaining to Fort Bend ISD (FBISD) — that were sent to and from cell phones (and other devices) that are personally owned by employees and board members — are subject to being released under the Texas Public Information Act (PIA).
Background
This dispute involves a public information request submitted to FBISD March 4, 2019, by Houston TV investigative reporter Wayne Dolcefino for five months of cell phone records (redacted to exclude records related to personal phone calls) of 10 named individuals who were either school board members or district employees.
