The Legislature last session (via HB1605) tasked the State Board of Education (SBOE) with adopting a list of literary works for each grade level for the K-12 Reading Language Arts TEKS.

To help the SBOE in this task, the TEA has just posted a Literary Works List Survey to gather input from K-12 educators.

Educators are asked, in responding, to consider literary works in the classroom as a broad range of literature types — such as poems, folktales, short stories, plays, novels, or primary source documents that are used as part of direct instruction of TEKS based content.

“Your input will assist in better understanding both the quantity and types of literature used in classrooms across Texas today,” the TEA’s announcement says.

Deadline: Monday, Feb. 17.
