Bridgeway Preparatory Academy Charter Seeks Closure Approval

Dallas-based Bridgeway Preparatory Academy has asked the education commissioner for permission to close and return its charter to the state, effective June 1, 2026.

The charter was among the five Generation 22 charters surviving vetoes by the State Board of Education in July 2017 to open no earlier than August 2018.

The charter’s official SY 2024-25 single-campus enrollment was 108 students enrolled in early childhood through eighth grade.

The charter is held by Texas Programs for Alternative Education.

The education commissioner’s (expected) approval of the closure request would likely be contingent upon the charter’s successful completion of all applicable closure procedures.
