Report Chronicles “TEA Mobile STEM Labs” Growth/Popularity
A new TEA report to the Legislature chronicles the explosive interest in the agency’s Texas Mobile STEM Laboratories program.

The state funded program launched in 2020 in partnership with the nonprofit Learning Undefeated to provide engaging hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) learning experiences to students in grades K to 8 statewide.

Nine Mobile Labs
The program now operates nine mobile laboratories serving campuses across all 20 education service center regions.
Survey results indicate the labs have a strong educational impact for both students and teachers.
A total of 52 percent of student respondents in a recent survey believe they could pursue a STEM career after they completed a lab-based STEM design challenge — and 69 percent of teacher respondents reported an increase in their confidence to design their own engineering design challenge after their visit.
