Abbott Appoints Temple ISD Teacher to SBEC Board

Gov. Abbott has appointed JoMeka Gray to the State Board for Educator Certification for a term set to expire on February 1, 2031 (press release).

Gray is the district and campus teacher leader at Kennedy-Powell STEM Elementary in Temple ISD.

In related news, SBEC’s board recently elected board Vice Chair/Kerrville community volunteer Courtney MacDonald as its chair following the retirement from the board, after four years as chair, of Highland Park ISD [Dallas County] teacher Jean Streepey.

Pflugerville business owner Julia Dvorak is the board’s new vice chair and Hereford ISD school counselor Bena Glasscock is the board’s new secretary.
