The State Board of Education (SBOE) is accepting nominations for its 2026 Student Heroes Award.

The program annually recognizes students in grades PK to 12 who volunteer to assist or benefit their fellow students and/or communities.

The SBOE encourages students, teachers, administrators and community members to nominate any Texas public school students who exemplify the core value of selfless service.

To be eligible, service projects performed by nominees must be voluntary and not tied to curriculum requirements, school service projects or pre-existing community programs.

Honorees will be recognized at the June 2026 SBOE meeting in Austin. Each Student Hero will receive a plaque and a medal from their SBOE district member.

Nomination deadline: April 24, 2026.
