TEA Appoints Beaumont ISD’s Superintendent & Board of Managers

The TEA today (April 29, 2026) announced the appointment of a new superintendent and a seven-member board of managers to oversee the operations of the 15,862-student Beaumont ISD.

Education Commissioner Mike Morath named Sandi Massey as the district’s new superintendent, who will begin working immediately under a 21-day interim contract, pending formal approval by the board of managers that Morath also appointed.
The TEA’s press release says Massey is a proven education leader with more than three decades of experience serving students across public school districts, most recently as Houston ISD chief of schools.
Morath — in December 2025 — announced the TEA would take over Beaumont ISD after several of its campuses received consecutive failing accountability ratings.
