2026 HEB Education Excellence Award Winners Announced

Statewide winners in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program were announced during a Sunday (May 3, 2026) ceremony in Houston.

A total of $480,000 in cash awards and grants were awarded to six teachers, two counselors, two principals, two school districts, one early childhood facility and a public school board for being among the best in Texas.

The school district affiliated winners are:

  • Large School District: Garland ISD, $100,000.

  • Small School District: Alice ISD, $50,000.

  • School Board: Corpus Christi ISD, $25,000.

  • Early Childhood: Menchaca Early Childhood Center (Southside [San Antonio] ISD), $25,000.

Since 2002, the program has awarded nearly $15 million in cash and grants to Texas teachers and schools, and is the largest of its kind in Texas and the nation.
