Amarillo Educator, Ex-Talk Show Host Appointed to SBEC’s Board

Gov. Abbott announced today (July 17, 2026) that he has appointed two members to SBEC’s governing board.

Appointed were:

  • Amarillo ISD educator Cassidy Estes, who serves in an Association of Texas Professional Educators leadership role at her campus. Her term expires Feb. 1, 2029.
  • Kathy Ward of Plano, a former: 1) Plano ISD special-ed teacher, 2) long-time morning radio talk show co-host and 3) State Commission on Judicial Conduct commissioner. Her term expires Feb. 1, 2031.
