New Online Tool Shows Career Education’s Funding Potential
The nonprofit/nonpartisan Texas 2036 just launched a free Career Coursework Funding Simulator that allows school districts and community colleges to estimate how expanding career and college programs could increase state funding while helping students earn credentials for high-demand jobs.
The tool includes every Texas school district and community college district — and allows local leaders to model specific career pathways.
Texas 2036 estimates that districts could have received about $1.23 billion more in outcomes-based funding if all 2024 graduates had met college, career and military readiness benchmarks, while universal completion of CTE Programs of Study among 2022-23 graduates could have generated $449 million in additional gross CTE funding.
