AG Paxton Issues “ESG” Advisory Letter to Ensure Compliance by Governmental Entities

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued this advisory letter today on what governmental entities must do to comply with state laws prohibiting them from entering into large contracts with companies that have “environmental, social or governance” (ESG) policies that:

  • Boycott energy companies.
  • Discriminate against firearm entities or firearms related associations.
  • Boycott Israel.

No Texas governmental entity may enter into a contract with such boycotters or discriminators for the purchase of goods or services with a value of $100,000 or more, the accompanying press release states.
