TEA Issues Final 2023-24 School Fiscal Ratings

The TEA announced today that the final 2023-24 school district fiscal accountability ratings (following appeals) have been posted.

The number of F rated ISDs decreased from 16 to 12 as a result of appeals, and there was no change from the 10 non-university charters receiving preliminary F ratings.

Final 2023-24 ISD FIRST ratings:

  • Passed — 1,005 ISDs (98.8 percent), apportioned thusly:
    • A = Superior Achievement, 876 ISDs (86.1%)
    • B = Above Standard Achievement, 79 ISDs (7.8%)
    • C = Meets Standard Achievement, 50 ISDs (4.9%)
  • Failed — These 12 ISDs (1.2%) received F = Substandard Achievement final ratings:

    • Denver City ISD
    • Dew ISD
    • Fannindel ISD
    • Karnes City ISD
    • Hitchcock ISD
    • Matagorda ISD

    • A = Superior Achievement, 114 charters (64.8%)
    • B = Above Standard Achievement, 37 charters (21.0%)
    • C = Meets Standard Achievement, 15 charters (8.5%)
  • Failed: These 10 charters (5.7%) received F = Substandard Achievement, final ratings (with headquarters county):
