The TEA today (June 6, 2025) posted, for public comment, proposed rules to:

  • (info) Increase the number of extracurricular activities a student may participate in from one activity per school week to two activities per school week.

  • (info) Outline the process for school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to submit requests for reviews of local classroom instructional materials and establish eligibility for reviewers.

The public comment period for both proposed rules ends on July 7, 2025 — and comments may be submitted here.

The proposed effective date for both rules, when finally adopted, is Sept. 28, 2025.

Visit the TEA’s rule page for additional info.
