Dismissed: The remaining Bits of the 2024 A-F Ratings Lawsuit

The Texas Fifteenth Court of Appeals on Wednesday (Aug. 13, 2025) formally dismissed the remaining bits of the litigation left over from their July 3, 2025, ruling (article) allowing the TEA to release the 2024 A-F accountability ratings.

The justices ruled that the attempt by IDEA Public Schools — and (separately) a coalition of one Midland ISD trustee and two Round Rock ISD school board members — to seek intervenor status in the underlying lawsuit must be dismissed as “moot” because they got what they wanted (the court’s clearance to release the 2024 ratings).

The dismissal orders are posted here (for IDEA) and here for the three school trustees.

  • Note: The TEA plans (article) to publicly release the 2024 ratings (along with the 2025 ratings that were not court challenged) on Friday (Aug. 15, 2025).

The Fifteenth Court previously allowed the TEA to release the 2023 A-F ratings, which the agency did on April 24, 2025.
