Fifth Circuit Tosses Barbers Hill ISD Hair Policy Depositions Appeal

U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals
Ruling: A superintendent and former school board member will have to give depositions in a well-publicized court case in which some say the district’s hair policy discriminates against black males.
A three-member Fifth Circuit panel on Nov. 3, 2025, delivered the “published opinion” involving Barbers Hill ISD (BHISD) that is currently being presided over by a federal judge.
